Did you see the sunset there? I know it caught my eye,
for upon my mind I still see it burning, dear.
Some sick halo against the sky.
Was it angels warring? forests burning? or light from some distant void?
On my skin I feel it squirming, undermining,
coiling warmly like some turgid worm.
You could run a thousand miles, dear.
And a thousand thousand more,
though you'd never cease it's coming, nor the methods it dares employ.
Do you feel the sunset here? You know it caught my sigh,
deep into my throat it yearns, dear.
More heat heaped on every lie.
Was it color? merely choleric? a ripe radiating bile?
You can sense it on every breath, dear.
On every breath it wafts, a perfumed whore,
though you'd never cease her coming, nor the wiles she dares employ.
Did you see the sunset there? I know it caught my eye,
so let's depart on burning heart,
silhouetted against an empty sky.
