my christmas card...

Description

This is just to show you what my christmas card this year was, the top section is the front, the center the usual weird poem I do, and the last part is the back image where the tree comes alive. It's hard to see but the front image does have the eye but it's hidden as the tree is sleeping at that point. I included the poem below and in my literature just in case you can't read it that well. As for why I do this, I just decided that unless it's locat art or somehing I made myself, I see no point in buying cards for my friends and family anymore, I've been doing it for my valentine and birthday cards too and I'll put some of the less personal ones up later. The card always comes with postcards I made so it's like a mini present with framable pictures.

Enjoy!

I saw with discomfort,
on a Christmas Eve morn,
that my tree had been readily and heartily shorn.
Not only of color,
but trim and good cheer,
it lurked in my eyes,
it’s motives unclear.
I ranted and railed
and with a shaking of hands,
I racked up the stairways and made such demands!
I tore at my shirt and reached for a light.
“Burn it!”, Yes, “Burn it! And let its curse blow!”
“Away from my yard on the smoke, winds and snow!”
It stands before me darkly,
like the oddly shaped wick
of a cold desolate candle
an epicurean horror, an unsightly shamble!
When in the rant the occurrence was made
like a pound to the head and thusly it played
that the season wasn’t about a ghostly pine tree, presents or favors,
but the company of family, friends and a Savior!
So discomfited no more, I left off the matches
and with purpose in stride and my clothes needing patches,
I bid it adieu and drew shut the door,
set up the table and dusted the floor
and made ready for guests who armed with questions
about my nightmarish tree and its ghastly confections,
would arrive readily for dinner at 2 of the clock.
When a glance in the mirror brought such a shock.
The tree, it had winked!
A great roving eye had blinked and laughter had sounded!
But my heart was still cheerful and cheerfully pounded,
so I gave it no mind, this mischievous tree,
however haunted, demented or giggling in glee.
My thoughts were for you, and those you hold dear,
to have a merry Christmas, and a happy New Year!
